Role of the Party
The party of a member is very important to them. A political party gives the Congressmen a title and categorizes them with other people of the same belief. People will vote for a member because they are of the same party or because they like the ideas of the candidate (whose ideas usually align with one party or the other). Congressmen who vote with their party have an organizational view. Parties can also lead to Congressional caucuses, which is when Congressmen get together and form a group based on interests or ideas.
